The Bowmans’s Bio
Hailing from Davenport Iowa, now based in Brooklyn, The Bowmans have become part of the scene in Brooklyn and the lower east side of Manhattan.
Sarah, who also plays in Rasputina, has been a fixture in the anti-folk world as a soloist artist and guest cellist.
The band combines Sarah's lyrics and vocals, Claire's harmonies, Sarah's cello and guitar with Claire's fiddle. Sarah and Claire share the rare, almost telepathic bond common to twin: the harmonies sound as one astonishing voice.
Their upcoming S/T release, The Bowmans, was produced by Malcolm Burn (Emmylou Harris) and follows the success of Far From Home (Mother West in the US/Rounder Europe). 4 tracks on Far From Home went into rotation in 10,000 + Starbucks stores.
The Bowmans perform all over Europe, and in the US: CMJ, Bristol Rhythm & Roots, Tosco Music, a residency at LA's Hotel Cafe.
They have shared the stage with The Avett Brothers and Nickel Creek's Chris Thile, performed as the Paste Magazine-sponsored artist on the Cayamo cruise in 2008 with Lyle Lovett, Patty Griffin and Emmylou Harris. Jim Lauderdale and David Rawlings are fans.
"Sister act the Bowmans create their own little oasis of beauty and tranquility... It's beyond lovely how their voices quiver together... and the way a delicate, extended note soars marvelously through the break in the aptly titled 'Make It Last.' " --LA Weekly
