Arborea’s Bio
Equal parts psychedelia and backwater folk, inspired by Smithsonian field recordings, Arborea is a husband and wife duo from Maine. Buck Curran and Shanti Curran's music draws inspiration from progressive folk and rock traditions of groups like Pentangle and Led Zeppelin, as well as contemporaries Marissa Nadler, Espers, Devendra Banhart, and Iron and Wine. Buck plays guitar, slide guitars, bowed strings, flutes, banjo, and vocals. Shanti provides lead vocals, banjo, ukulele, bowed strings, harmonium, and percussion.
In March of 2009 the duo released their 3rd record House of Sticks through Borne! Records, with distribution throughout the U.S. and Europe. Arborea curated the Leaves of Life compilation with Marissa Nadler, Alela Diane, Devendra Banhart, Larkin Grimm & more. All proceeds from the album sales benefit the UN World Food Program.
Arborea has been featured on NPR, WFMU, WNYC's Spinning on Air and the BBC.

"Shanti and Buck Curran get it right, with memorable songs that linger in the ether long after the last track ends." -NPR
"Arborea's brand of folk music is ethereal, bone-chilling, and beautiful all at once!" -Performing Songwriter Magazine
